Is there any way to clear the history of a search bar?

I'm referring to how search bars on Yahoo, Google, etc, retain what is typed and then everytime someone enters a letter it comes up with all previous entries starting with that letter. For instance, if I searched for ';Carrots,'; anytime that someone entered a ';c'; into the search bar ';carrots'; would come up. I'm asking because I've been looking for a particular item as a Christmas present for my husband, and I don't want him to somehow see what I've been searching for. Any info is appreciated, thanks. Is there any way to clear the history of a search bar?
I believe you are talking about the AutoComplete feature...I believe you can turn it off by going to Tools, Internet Options, then the Advanced tab, then uncheck the ';Use inline AutoComplete'; box in the browsing category.

If you are talking about clearing the history, like when you type www.y and then www.yahoo.com will pop up, just click Tools, Internet Options, Clear HistoryIs there any way to clear the history of a search bar?

It depends what browser you are using. All popular browsers support clearing the history of auto-complete items. You can usually find the settings and abilties to clear this information within the preferences or options menus.
